H. Maluleka Audiology is primarily a mobile practice. I travel to the patient or client to bring audiological services close to their area or in the comfort of home, school or work.

Services Available

Hearing Screening

  • Hearing screening is quick and done using an OAE or AABR screener.
  • Can be scheduled from 24Hrs after a baby is born but we provide this service up to 2 years old.
  • The baby needs to be asleep for the test or be quiet and calm.
  • Screening also provided from age 3 years and above.
Occupational Hearing Screening
  • Hearing screening for work purposes.
  • Baselines, pre-employment, monitoring, diagnostic, exit assessments.
  • Evaluating and making recommendations for threshold shifts, fitness for occupation and compensability (Percentage Loss of Hearing/PLH).
Hearing Tests (all ages)
  • Diagnostic behavioural hearing tests from 3 years of age.
  • Traditional or video otoscopy.
  • Standard tympanometry.
  • Acoustic reflexometry.
  • Behavioural air and/or bone conduction audiometry – tones and speech.
  • For children: behavioural observation, visual reinforcement, or conditioned play audiometry.
  • For those with limited behavioural responses:
    • Electrophysiological assessment on natural sleep via:
      • Audiological Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR).
      • Auditory Steady-State Response (ASSR).
  • Site-of-lesion Neurological ABR.
Individual & Group Aural Rehabilitation
  • Offered to both paediatric and adult patients.
  • Patients learn to optimize their hearing solution to improve communication and to aid in speech and language development.
Device Selection, Fitting & Orientation Programmes
  • Technological solutions available for hearing problems.
  • After the test, options will be discussed and the individual or caregiver will be counselled on the use and care of the device.

Cerumen/Wax Management

  • Removal of wax or foreign bodies in the ear canal.
  • Methods: Syringing/irrigation; curette removal; forceps extraction.
Tinnitus Retraining Therapy
  • Tinnitus assessment.
  • For patients who have ringing in their ears; ideally for those who have persistent ringing that is bothersome and disturbs everyday life and sleep.
Vestibular-Related Dizziness Or Vertigo Assessment & Rehabilitation
  • Bedside vestibular assessments.
  • Referrals for equipment-based testing.
  • Vestibular Retraining Therapy for confirmed vestibular dysfunction.
  • Fall risk assessment.
Hearing Conservation Programs For Prevention Of Noise Induced Hearing Loss
  • For individuals exposed to excessive noise (recreational or occupational) who want to know more about caring for their ears and hearing and preventing noise induced hearing loss.
  • For companies with employees who are exposed to excessive noise looking to start a hearing conservation program e.g., mine workers, steel worker, brush cutter operator, bus/truck driver, firearm operator.
Prevention Of Hearing Loss & Promotion Of Healthy Hearing & Ears
  • Counselling on ear and hearing care and hygiene.
  • Educational services for individuals or institutions who want to be informed on ear and hearing care by an audiologist.

  • A variety of hearing aids are offered for selection:
    • Behind-the-ear (BTE) with earmould or slim tube coupling.
    • In-the-ear (ITE).
    • Receiver-in-the-canal (RIC).
    • Contralateral routing of signals/bilateral (CROS/BI-CROS) hearing aids (for single-sided deafness with or without considerable hearing loss in the opposite ear).
    • Bone conduction hearing aids (BCHA).
  • Hearing aid batteries, earmoulds, slim tubes, domes, hearing aid care kit, paediatric accessories and more.
